Victor Anjos

Victor Anjos moved to Canada from Zimbabwe, through Portugal over 30 years ago. He studied Engineering, Computer Science, Math and Physics at the University of Toronto and proceeded to work in a fast-paced environment at ATI following his Co-Op term. Growing his career in hardware and networking engineering and IT security, Victor then transitioned to SUN Microsystems, where he installed the newest hardware and software at places such as Telus Mobility, HSBC and Shaw Media. He then transitioned to the startup world where he has helped build numerous strong companies, Syncapse (Series A and Series B - total staff: 200+ people, 3 dogs), Viafoura (Series A - total staff: 30+ people, 1 dog), Ficstar (bootstrapped - total staff 5+ people, revenue > $3M) and his latest; DeepLearni.ng (Series A - total staff: 30+ and growing, 5 dogs), and is currently the CTO at DeepLearni.ng. In his spare time, Victor dedicates countless hours teaching his craft to the Toronto community, running and presenting at Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, Social Responsibility, Big Data and Apache conferences, all while co-founding and running a Big Data / Predictive Insight national Not For Profit, Data For Good, which has over 3,500 active volunteers. Victor's motto is to hire people smarter than him and empower them to do amazing things.
