In March 2017, China established its National #Engineering Laboratory of #Deep Learning #Technology under the leadership of #Baidu. The purpose of the new research center involved exploring image and voice recognition, biometric identification, and new forms of human-machine interaction.
So #Canada is being touted (in the main stream) as the AI leader (largely due to our wonderful lineage of deep learning researchers and some very cool companies, such as mine – #DeepLearni.ng). It shouldn’t be news to everyone that the country with the most population (and hence the largest data sets) and a government that is authoritarian can shift the entire national focus to something such as AI.
