2017 was the year of #MeToo – let’s keep the momentum going #HappyInternationalWomensDay

The employees surveyed at the companies on this list had a minimum 90 per cent positive response to the statement “I am treated fairly regardless of my gender.” The list also factored in “levels of workplace trust experienced by the company’s female workforce as well as their people programs that support women,” according to the Great Place to Work list.

I have been extremely cognizant of the fact that, in tech, we just absolutely need to get away from the “bro” culture that has dominated the landscape for most of my career. Recent stories at companies such as Uber highlight the fact that this is still prevelant in many tech businesses, even those that people look up to.

The way which I work is all about empowering everyone, I don’t particularly key in on the fact that my staff is man, woman or LGBTQ, none of that matters. All that actually matters to me is that someone can do the work that I need from them.

If you are a cool person to work with, are accountable, responsible and operate authentically and with integrity, I want you on my team(s) – of course, you have to be able to do the job itself!!!

The last little message I have is that women (well, girls specifically) need to be shown how cool it is to create things in tech and how they don’t have to be pigeon-holed by archaic school systems and curriculums that try to classify people as one type of the other. If you like something – go for it, NOTHING should stop you!
